Courage and cowardice, love and lust, wisdom and folly, loyalty and betrayal, forgiveness and revenge - the 330 million gods and goddesses in the Indian pantheon mirror the face of all human emotions and experience. And each deity represents one aspect of the Supreme Principle that controls the universe. The all pervading force called Ishvara, Bhagwan or Brahman. Stories about these deities find their origin in mythology that has its root in ancient literature - primarily the four Vedas and the Puranas.
